The Waste4Soil project was proudly presented at the Attica Green Expo 2026, from 27-31 May 2026 in Athens, Greece, by our partner, CluBE – Cluster of Bioeconomy and Environment of Western Macedonia. The event brought together public authorities, research organisations, businesses, students, environmental professionals, and citizens to explore innovative solutions for a more sustainable and environmentally responsible future.
Throughout the exhibition, visitors had the opportunity to learn about the Waste4Soil project and its mission to transform food processing residues into sustainable soil improvers. By recovering valuable nutrients from agri-food waste streams, the project contributes to healthier soils, promotes circular bioeconomy practices, and supports the development of more resilient food systems across Europe.
A particular focus was placed on the Waste4Soil Living Labs, which serve as real-world testing and demonstration sites across Europe. Visitors discovered how innovative nutrient recovery technologies and soil restoration solutions are being implemented and evaluated under diverse agricultural conditions, helping to accelerate the transition towards sustainable farming systems.
Special attention was given to the participation of children visiting the exhibition, who had the opportunity to learn in an interactive way about the importance of soil health, circular bioeconomy principles, and sustainable resource management. Through discussions and educational activities at the CluBE/ Waste4Soil stand, they discovered how food processing residues and organic waste can be transformed into valuable resources for agriculture, helping to improve soil fertility while reducing waste generation. The active engagement of young visitors highlighted the importance of environmental education and raising awareness among future generations about the sustainable use of natural resources and the role they can play in building a more sustainable future.
Attica Green Expo provided an excellent platform for exchanging knowledge, sharing best practices, and fostering collaboration among stakeholders from different sectors. During the event, the Waste4Soil team engaged in valuable discussions with researchers, local authorities, environmental experts, students, and citizens, highlighting the importance of soil health, circular resource management, and sustainable agriculture in addressing current environmental challenges.
Waste4Soil's participation at Attica Green Expo 2026 helped raise awareness of the crucial role of healthy soils in ensuring food security, environmental resilience, and sustainable rural development. It also strengthened connections with key stakeholders interested in advancing innovative solutions for nutrient recycling and soil restoration.
We would like to thank everyone who visited the Waste4Soil stand, attended the project presentation, and shared their ideas and experiences throughout the event. Such exchanges are essential for building stronger collaborations and advancing the collective effort towards healthier soils and more sustainable communities across Europe.
Together, we are transforming waste into value and creating a healthier future for our soils.
