On 2 December 2025, Waste4Soil partners Euroquality – Tinexta Innovation Hub and AREFLH actively participated in the Second Cluster on Data and Knowledge Management, held in a hybrid format in Brussels, Belgium, and online. The event brought together EU-funded soil projects to strengthen collaboration and align approaches to soil data, knowledge sharing, and monitoring.
This edition highlighted the growing impact of the Soil Deal for Europe Mission, with 38 projects presented and over 63 projects funded under the EU Mission “A Soil Deal for Europe.”
The day opened with key policy and scientific insights, including an overview of the EU Soil Observatory (EUSO) and a presentation of the Cluster’s objectives by the SoilWise project. Morning sessions focused on essential concepts and tools for soil data management, followed by parallel workshops covering:
- Vocabularies and glossaries
- Knowledge management practices
- Metadata templates
- Populating the SoilWise catalogue with data and knowledge items
The afternoon sessions emphasized practical exchanges and concluded with a plenary session on translating insights into coordinated action. A key theme was the critical role of soil data collection in EU policy frameworks, with contributions from DG ENV, DG AGRI, JRC, and DG CNECT, highlighting its relevance for the Soil Monitoring and Resilience Directive.
Events like this are essential to ensure that Europe’s soil initiatives speak a common language, collaborate effectively, and collectively advance healthier and more resilient soils.
